EARLY SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP
Week 3 (July 3 - July 7, NO CAMP ON TUESDAY JULY 4TH) Seriously Silly Science
Can you turn an egg into rubber? What would a storm cloud look like in a cup? Do you need glass to make a magnifier? The answers to these and other queer quandaries can be found at Seriously Silly Science camp as we explore science all around us. Fun, engaging activities will impress and amaze all those who dare to enter the silly zone.

Week 1 (June 19 - June 23) From Page to Pixel
An ARTS in TECHNOLOGY camp with Teacher James/Head of the VBFS Visual Arts Department.
Students will sculpt and design their own original characters and program with interactive computer animation creating their own adventure! They will learn basic code to control the action using touch screen technology.
Students will use “SCRATCH JR.”, an educational ipad app through M.I.T.edu.
Week 2 (June 26 - June 30) Explorer
An ARTS in SCIENCES camp with Teacher James/Head of the VBFS Visual Arts Department
"Have the courage to look beyond the horizon and explore the farthest reaches of your imagination.."
Students will explore the outdoors and create maps, captains’ logs and field journals detailing faraway imaginary places. Drawing, painting & printmaking techniques will be used to create a weathered look to their art.
Week 3 (July 3-July 7, NO CAMP ON TUESDAY JULY 4TH) Chesapeake Bay Exploration
This camp is limited to 12 campers AGES 8-13 who will require field trip/transportation waiver.
This is the camp for girls and boys who want to be outside, get wet and engage with our local Chesapeake Bay in every way. Campers will be out and about on the water, oyster gardening, netting fish, playing on the beach and learning about the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the world. Our campers will experience all that our Lynnhaven River and Bay has to offer firsthand by exploring salt marshes, oyster reefs, sand bars, tidal creeks, and beach ecosystems.
