The Annual Fund is the backbone of fundraising at Virginia Beach Friends School. This yearly giving program is dedicated to the day-to-day costs of running the school. The Annual Fund helps balance the school’s operating budget, provides support for teachers’ salaries, as well as supplies, campus maintenance and financial aid.
The School Committee of Virginia Beach Friends School is committed to keeping tuition costs as low as possible. And yet, the cost of educating a child at Friends School is about $1,500 higher per student than tuition revenues provide. Annual Giving, which exists at every independent school provides the essential funds, above and beyond tuition, that are needed to provide a truly outstanding education for our students.
The Annual Fund exists every year and is launched in the fall with a Parent-to-Parent phonathon. While gifts may be pledged and paid any time within the fiscal year, early participation helps your gift to grow over the course of the year. Gifts to the Annual Fund range from $5.00 to over $10,000, and are tax deductible. We hope that everyone will give as generously as they can, but it is critical that everyone, especially parents and alumni, participate in some way. Strong participation in the Annual Fund sends a message to the community about the strength of our school and the commitment of others to our educational mission.
